Meet Rocky Milam – Expanding McLaughlin General Contracting
Rocky Milam has been entrusted with growing the McLaughlin General Contracting division—and
brings a lifetime of experience to the task.
Raised in a construction family, Rocky was practically born into the industry. From a young age, he
spent weekdays after school and weekends working for one of his seven uncles, all of whom were in
construction. Starting as a hands-on journeyman carpenter, he worked his way up to Rough Frame
Superintendent, eventually overseeing full-scale land development and construction operations.
As the company he worked for expanded, Rocky stepped into dual roles: Project Manager for land
development and Superintendent for the in-house framing division. With the company serving as
developer, general contractor, and subcontractor, he gained valuable experience across all facets of
the building process.
Between projects, Rocky contributed in the office, supporting estimating and preconstruction teams
with material takeoffs, labor estimates, and GMP proposals. This hands-on and behind-the-scenes
experience gave him rare insight into the full lifecycle of construction—from initial client concept to
Certificate of Occupancy.
Rocky is a seasoned Project Management Professional with over 40 years of experience across
residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional construction. His roles have spanned journeyman
carpenter, superintendent, project manager, senior PM, and director.
He has managed projects ranging from big-box rollouts and logistics centers to multi-family podium
projects and tenant fit-outs—both domestically and internationally, including in China. Rocky has also
served as an Owner's Representative, Consultant, and General Contractor on projects for educational facilities, government buildings, hospitality, sports arenas, and more.
His comprehensive knowledge of construction spans land acquisition, entitlements, design,
budgeting, scheduling, and execution. With a practical, strategic, and solution-driven approach,
Rocky is committed to delivering quality and value to every client.
